Services - Outplacement
We help and advise organisations when they have to carry out redundancies. But we’re obviously very aware of what a difficult procedure this can be and how it needs sensitive handling. Offering outplacement counselling to individuals can help them to handle the change.
Our outplacement counselling is usually carried out on a one to one basis and we adapt the programme depending on what an individual needs. Our objective is to encourage frank discussion of the person’s career to date, and to help them create an action plan for the future. All discussions are totally confidential and no information is passed to the sponsoring company without the individual's permission.
The programme usually covers the following areas:
- Review of Career to Date An in-depth discussion, identifying areas of strength and key competencies.
- Developing a Target Profile Building on the key competencies to develop a profile of potential career options. Realistically assessing the risks and opportunities for each option.
- The CV Production of a CV to meet the criteria identified in the profile.
- Marketing Yourself Advice on the various sources of jobs and how to tackle each type. Drafting suitable covering letters. How to analyse job adverts. Structuring mailshots.
- Interview Techniques Practice interview session, with feedback, to develop strategies for dealing with difficult issues and areas of weakness in presentation.
- Managing the Recruitment Process Discussion on handling the recruitment process, from application to offer.
- Action Plan The importance of producing a structured action plan.
The one day programme provides practical support to participants and is cost effective for sponsoring organisations. A Redundancy Counselling Pack is supplied to the candidate.
The programme can be held at our offices or in the individual's local area and can also be delivered on a workshop basis.
Extended Support
We also offer extended support packages, where we maintain regular contact with the candidate, on the following basis:
- Up to 3 months, including up to two progress review meetings.
- Up to 6 months, including up to four progress review meetings.
- Full Support Package until re-employment/new career path confirmed.
The consultancy is bound by the CIPD Code of Conduct for Outplacement Consultants.
